Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Arfoud – Merzouga Desert

This 2 days tour from Fes to Merzouga desert begins wherever is most convenient for the group: from the airport if you wish to do it as soon as you arrive in the country, from the hotel if you are already staying in this city or from any other location. In all cases, our English-speaking driver will pick you up in a private vehicle with maximum comfort. And after that, we will begin our road route heading south.

The first big stop on this day is the town of Ifrane: located at more than 1,700 meters above sea level in the heart of the Middle Atlas, it has an original atlas mountain appearance, unique compared to the rest of Morocco. In addition to their order and cleanliness, their houses with gabled roofs attract attention, as required by the rain and snow that falls here in the wet season.

After briefly getting to know this town, we will enter the Ifrane National Park, popularly known as the Cedar Forest or the Monkey Forest. This is because it houses a huge area of trees of this species and because a large population of Barbary macaques lives there. In fact, this is one of the few natural habitats in which they survive, as they are in danger of extinction.

After that, we will cross the natural barrier of the Middle Atlas and on our descent we will link with the Ziz Valley, named after the humble but long river that runs through it. Following its course we will notice how the Moroccan desert is approaching us, reaching Erfoud. This small city is famous for different reasons, mainly its fossils, some of them large dinosaurs, and for the production of marble. In addition, it has served as a location for films with a desert environment, such as The Mummy.

Shortly after leaving Erfoud, we will reach the last leg of this desert excursion from Fes: it begins in Merzouga, a small town where we will change means of transport, as we will go from the motor vehicle to the traditional dromedaries, used by nomads. of the desert since time immemorial (option replaceable with 4×4). In this way we will enter the dunes of Erg Chebbi, whose large formations of golden sand will envelop our vision.

This unique excursion will end at the tent camp, where they will be waiting for us with a Berber tea, as tradition dictates, and where dinner will be served. In one of these traditional tents you will rest, but not before having enjoyed the overwhelming image of the starry sky above our heads, clean and sparkling without obstacles from clouds and artificial lighting.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Fes

On this second day of 2 days tour from Fes to Merzouga, it will be worth getting up early: we will prepare to contemplate the sunrise in the dunes of Erg Chebbi, a unique place to delight in the first lights of dawn. After that, breakfast will be had and we will return to Merzouga, again via a camel ride (or 4×4, depending on the option chosen). There will also be time for a shower, in a hotel in Merzouga or in the camp tents depending on the contracted package.

The return route will be the same as the one taken the previous day to travel to the desert from Fes , but in this case fewer stops will be made with the aim of reaching the city in the early afternoon. This way, you will arrive in time to take your flight home or to enjoy a free afternoon in this beautiful city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

At the agreed place, we will say goodbye with gratitude for the trust placed and with the hope of making other circuits or excursions like this one, heading to the desert from Fes or heading to other natural paradises in the country.
