Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Your 5-day trip from Marrakech to Fes begins with pickup from your riad in Marrakech at 8:30 am. On the first day, we will travel 336 kilometers. We will begin by crossing the Tizi Ntichka Pass, which rises to 2,260 meters and extends for 200 kilometers. Along the way, we’ll make a stop at an argan oil cooperative, giving you the opportunity to relax and learn about the process of producing argan oil for cosmetics. Our next destination is the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, with brief stops at other kasbahs en route, including Telouet.
Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has attracted visitors from all over the world, including those from the film industry. Our journey will then take us to Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Morocco, where we will explore the famous Atlas Studios. The Ouarzazate region has been the setting for numerous popular films and television shows such as Game of Thrones and Prison Break. We will enjoy lunch in this vibrant city.
Continuing our journey through the Moroccan desert, we will pass through the enchanting Rose Valley, known for its extensive Skoura palm grove and the cultivation of Damask roses used to produce the coveted rose water. Don’t miss the Rose Festival in May. Finally, we will arrive at the Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in a comfortable riad with views of the valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert
The second day of our 5-day Desert tour from Marrakech to Fes begins with a trip to the Todra Gorges, passing through impressive valleys. We will take time to explore the local culture and take a walk through the famous Todra Gorges, which can reach heights of up to 300 meters. These gorges are a favorite place for climbers and photographers in Morocco. Afterwards, we will continue our journey through picturesque Berber villages until we reach Tinghir or Tinjedad, where we will pause for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will head to the Merzouga Desert, a focal point on the itineraries of many visitors to Morocco. Our desert adventure will probably begin with a camel ride through the dunes. Along the way, we will pause to admire the landscape and witness a captivating sunset. Ultimately, we will reach the desert camp where the nomads live. To start the night, a traditional Moroccan dinner will be served. Afterwards, we will gather around a bonfire, enjoy music and spend a memorable night in traditional Berber nomadic tents in the middle of the dunes of Merzouga.
Day 3: Tour around Merzouga
We will start the day early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara Desert. This unique experience allows you to see the Sahara, a rare sight in Morocco. After a camel ride back to Merzouga, our driver will be waiting to take us on a deeper exploration of the desert.
We will freshen up and board a 4×4 all-terrain vehicle to visit the villages of Hassilabied and Khamlia. Along the way, we will meet nomads living in the desert and listen to live Gnawa music performed by local tribes. Our desert adventure will take us to Lake Dayte Sarje, an oasis in the middle of the dunes, and a visit to see black volcanic rocks. In the afternoon, we will explore Rissani, an important commercial city known for its famous souks. In the evening, we will return to Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Midelt
On the fourth day, after breakfast at your hotel in the desert, we will check out and head to Midelt. Our journey will take us through Rissani, where we will explore one of the largest traditional markets in southeastern Morocco. We will also stop in Erfoud for the opportunity to participate in fossil workshops, as the region is known for its various fossils that can be examined up close.
Continuing, we will explore the Ziz Valley, the most important date producing region in Morocco. We will make a stop at one of the most panoramic places in Morocco, over the Ait Chakr pass, which offers impressive views of the Ziz Valley and numerous palm trees. Our journey will then take us to Midelt, where you will spend the night.
Day 5: Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
On the last day of our 5 days tour from Marrakech to Fes, we will have a different itinerary. Today we will explore one of the royal cities of Morocco. Our first stop will be in a cedar forest in the High Atlas Mountains. We will then head to Meknes, where we will begin our tour at Sahrij Souani, a central lake. Our exploration of Meknes will also include visits to Lhdim Square and Gate B
