Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat
Our 7 days tour from Casablanca airport or at the agreed location in this Moroccan city, the largest and most important in the country. A English-speaking driver from our agency will be waiting there with a private vehicle to transport you to the center.
In Casablanca, we’ll pause to visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the Islamic world. This stop is noteworthy not just for its stunning architecture but also for its rare interior access, offering a glimpse into the monumental and spiritual aspects of such a revered temple.
After visiting the mosque, we will head to Rabat, located just 90 km by road. Although it is not as big as Casablanca, it forms a huge urban area in conjunction with its neighbor Salé, on the other side of the Bu Regreg river. And what is more important: it is a city with an interesting historical center, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. In addition, it is the capital of the country and one of the famous Imperial Cities.
During your free visit to Rabat, explore its iconic landmarks, including the Hassan Tower from the Almohad era and the Kasbah of the Oudayas, dating back to the same period. Don’t miss the opportunity to wander through this historic city and immerse yourself in its rich heritage. Later, return to the charming riad where you’ll spend the first night of your 7-day Morocco tour from Casablanca.
Day 2: Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes
The second day of this trip will begin with breakfast included in the Rabat riad and then leave for the important places of interest that make up this day. The first of them, Meknes, is another of the Imperial Cities and sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Many of the historical monuments of Meknes evoke Moulay Ismail, the sultan who declared it capital at the end of the 17th century. His mausoleum and the spectacular gates of the wall are examples of this.
Following a leisurely stroll through Meknes, our journey continues to Volubilis, an awe-inspiring Roman archaeological site. Here, you’ll encounter remnants of columns, mosaics, and arches, bearing witness to the city’s significance during the Roman Empire’s heyday under rulers like Marcus Aurelius and Caracalla. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Volubilis offers a captivating glimpse into ancient history.
In the afternoon we will travel to Fes, another Imperial City and the third World Heritage site of the day. Due to its splendor, it is one of the most important places on this 7 days tour from Casablanca, so we will visit it in depth on the following day. For the moment, you will have time to take a free walk through the center and get in touch with its environment and popular culture. And at night, you will rest in a charming riad located in the medina.
Day 3: Visit Fes with a Local Guide
If there is a city that deserves to be discovered with the help of a guide, it is Fes. And so it will happen on this day of our Morocco tour in 7 days: after breakfast at the riad, you will meet our official local guide to tour the most important places in the historic center on foot.
The route will not overlook any monument or neighborhood of maximum interest. For example, the Karaouine Mosque and University, one of the oldest educational institutions in the world. Or its prestigious madrassas (Bou Inania, Attarine, etc.), since Fez retains the character of a spiritual and intellectual center earned centuries ago. No less special will be touring the neighborhoods and souks of artisans, among which the tanners stand out, who maintain their traditional leather work in the medina.
While the morning walking tour will be personalized, some sights may need to be omitted due to time constraints. However, you’ll have the afternoon to explore these places at your leisure and delve deeper into the city’s offerings. Highlights like the Jewish quarter or Mellah, the Royal Palace with its dazzling Golden Gates, and attractions such as the Borj Nord Museum and El Glaoui Palace await your discovery. Additionally, Fes boasts a vibrant market scene, offering a plethora of traditional crafts including leather goods, woodwork, jewelry, and ceramics—a perfect opportunity for souvenir shopping to cherish your 7-day tour of Morocco. Round off the day with another overnight stay at the riad in the heart of the Medina.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
On the fourth day of this trip we leave the large historical cities and enter the wildest and most authentic corners of Moroccan nature. After breakfast at the riad in Fes, we will board our vehicle and head to the far south.
As we journey onward, the charming towns and picturesque landscapes of the Middle Atlas will greet us. Among them is Ifrane, fondly referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ due to its Alpine-like ambiance. Situated over 1,700 meters above sea level, Ifrane boasts gabled-roof buildings set amidst lush greenery, reminiscent of the Alpine region, and experiences abundant snowfall during winter.
The National Park located between Ifrane and Azrou also has a lot of charm, often known as the Cedar Forest or Monkey Forest. That tree and that animal are very characteristic of the country and a vital interdependence has been formed between them: the Barbary macaques, in danger of extinction, have found here the perfect habitat to survive, being the only primate found in the wild at northern Sahara.
After leaving this National Park behind, we will cross the Middle Atlas and undertake a long descent that will take us to the Ziz Valley, where the landscape changes radically: in the background palm groves and crop fields coexist, and around it the aridity of the hamadas prevails. stony In this way, the road reaches Erfoud, a small town famous for its fossils of dinosaurs and other creatures that lived here millions of years ago.
Our journey leads us to Merzouga, a humble town renowned for its association with the Sahara Desert. Here, the asphalt roads yield to the vast expanse of desert sands. We’ll transition from cars to the sturdy dromedaries, ideal for traversing the Erg Chebbi dunes. Our destination: a tent camp nestled in the desert’s heart. There, we’ll be greeted with traditional Berber tea, enjoy dinner, and settle in for the night. It’s also where we’ll partake in one of the highlights of this 7-day Morocco tour: gazing upon the mesmerizing star-studded sky, unobstructed by clouds or light pollution.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Another highlight of this 7 days tour from Casablanca is the dawn of the fifth day: from the dunes of Erg Chebbi we will see how the sun emerges on the horizon and bathes this sea of sand dunes in a magical light, in the middle of a touching silence. After that, we will return to the camp to have breakfast and to return to our camels, which will take us back to Merzouga. During the morning we will also reserve time for a pleasant shower, in the tents or in a hotel in Merzouga depending on the contracted package.
Back on the road, we will have a road trip full of attractions ahead of us. The first is a visit to the small town of Rissani, cradle of the Alawite dynasty. In its medina and its surroundings we can see genuine scenes, such as a traditional market wrapped in exotic aromas or a donkey parking lot.
Following Rissani, our journey winds through arid hills and scattered palm groves, leading us to our next destination: the Todra Gorges. This rocky canyon, boasting natural walls towering about 200 meters high, is a haven for climbers. Yet, it also offers a captivating experience for any traveler, with its footpath accessible for exploration. Don’t miss the opportunity to pause and admire the winding curves of its road, adding another layer of fascination to this remarkable landscape.
After the Todra Gorges, we will travel through the Dades Valley, which is part of the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, named after the numerous Berber fortresses that dot the road. We will also pass through the Valley of Roses, where this flower is abundantly grown, with a high value for the local economy.
Finally, we will arrive at Ouarzazate, a city known as the ‘Hollywood of Morocco’ for its film studios that have served as a set for blockbusters in the seventh art. Depending on schedule and interest, we can visit their studios. The safe visit is to the Kasbah of Taourirt, located on the outskirts of this city and very interesting for its exterior adobe military architecture, as well as its exotic interior decoration. And at the conclusion, you will have dinner and sleep in a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Telouet – High Atlas – Marrakech
After having breakfast at the hotel in Ouarzazate, we will take our vehicle to travel the 25 km that separate us from the ksar of Ait Benhaddou. This fortified complex, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, is one of the best examples of Berber defensive military architecture. And not by chance, since it was a fundamental point on the caravan route that linked Timbuktu and Marrakech. In more recent times it has become a perfect filming set for movies and series, such as Game of Thrones.
After calmly visiting Ait Benhaddou, we will return to the road, which will begin to gain height: we will enter the High Atlas, where the highest mountains in the country are located. On the way up we will stop to visit the Kasbah of Telouet, ‘sister’ of the Kasbah of Taourirt since, like her, it was the residence of the Lord of the Atlas, Thami El Glaoui.
Shortly after, we will arrive at the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, a natural pass located at more than 2,220 meters above sea level. Therefore, the panoramic view of the High Atlas that it will offer us is fantastic, with snowy peaks for much of the year and small Berber villages lying on its slopes.
About 100 km from the port, through a continuously descending road, we will reach Marrakech, the last city of this 7-day Morocco tour from Casablanca . You can visit it freely during the afternoon to see the most representative places of its medina, declared World Heritage by UNESCO: the Kutubia mosque, the Jemaa el-Fna square, the Ben Youssef madrasa, the Bahia Palace and a long list of monuments. and museums full of interest. All of this, by the way, will be close to your accommodation, which will be a riad in the center of the city.
Day 7: Transfer to Marrakech Airport
The seventh day is the last of this 7 days tour from Casablanca. Therefore, after breakfast at the riad and if the program allows it, it would be possible to take a last walk around the city to make any pending purchases, for example. In any case, our driver will arrive on time to the agreed appointment to carry out the transfer by private vehicle to the airport.
And now at the terminal our services will conclude, with the hope of accompanying you again on another tour like this one of Morocco in 7 days , but through other places in the country: the Atlantic coast, the northern Mediterranean…
